The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab organized protests across the state against the Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa for his casteist comments directed at Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO. Demonstrators, including senior AAP leaders, Ministers, MLAs, activists, and residents, demanded a public apology from Bajwa and the Congress leadership.
AAP leader Baltej Pannu condemned Bajwa’s derogatory remarks, stating that they not only insulted the Minister but also targeted the entire Dalit community and hardworking people of Punjab. Pannu emphasized the need for Bajwa and the Congress leadership to publicly apologize to the affected communities.
Highlighting the Congress party’s alleged anti-Dalit stance, the AAP Punjab General Secretary expressed the party’s commitment to protecting the dignity of Dalits and working-class individuals in the state. AAP leaders questioned whether Bajwa’s remarks represented the official position of the Congress and called for a clear stance from the party leadership on the issue.
Protests were staged in various locations across Punjab, with significant participation from residents and artists. The demonstrations aimed to denounce Bajwa and the Congress for what AAP perceives as an “anti-Dalit” mindset. The party’s activists voiced their opposition to any form of discrimination against Dalits and working-class people.
