Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee criticized BJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato for failing to develop Purulia despite being a two-time MP from the constituency. Speaking at a public meeting in Purulia under the ‘Abar Jitbe Bangla’ campaign, Banerjee highlighted the contrast between past and present development and called for the complete removal of BJP from the district.
Banerjee assured the locals that if the Trinamool Congress secures all seats in Purulia, he will address their demands within six months of the Assembly election results. He questioned the development initiatives undertaken by the BJP MP during the 11-year tenure of the Narendra Modi-led government, citing delays in important trains like the Chakradharpur Express and the Purulia Express.
Emphasizing the need for improved infrastructure, Banerjee pledged to resolve the issue of train delays in Purulia within three months post-election. He recalled the challenging times in Purulia before 2011, marked by fear, Maoist violence, and administrative challenges, contrasting it with the peace and progress brought by the Mamata Banerjee government since 2011.
