Trinamool Congress General Secretary and Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee departed for New Delhi on Saturday. Initially, the plan was for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee to travel to Delhi on Sunday for a crucial meeting of the Indian National Inclusive Development Alliance (INDIA) bloc on Monday. However, following Mamata Banerjee’s instructions, Abhishek Banerjee left for Delhi a day earlier.
Abhishek Banerjee’s early departure to Delhi was confirmed by a party insider, although the reason for the sudden change in plans remains unknown. It is uncertain whether he will have any engagements in Delhi on Sunday before the INDIA bloc meeting on Monday. Additionally, Abhishek Banerjee is expected to be at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Kolkata on Monday for questioning related to alleged signature discrepancies of some Trinamool Congress legislators.
Despite being summoned for questioning by the CID on June 1, Abhishek Banerjee did not appear, citing health reasons after an alleged assault. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also issued a notice for his appearance at their Salt Lake office in Kolkata on June 15, adding to his legal challenges.
