Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee expressed worry about security measures in West Bengal after an individual was reportedly found with arms outside Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. Banerjee, upon landing in Kolkata, highlighted the incident and questioned the security protocols in place.
Banerjee criticized the lack of attention given by mainstream media to the incident that occurred soon after his arrival from Delhi. He emphasized the need to address the security lapses and the potential risks involved.
Additionally, TMC MP Derek O’Brien alleged that a BJP supporter was seen with a firearm at the airport exit when Banerjee and he were leaving. O’Brien shared a video showing the individual being escorted away by Trinamool supporters, raising concerns about a possible attempt on Banerjee’s life.
Abhishek Banerjee had traveled to Delhi to meet with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla before the incident unfolded at the airport. The TMC has raised suspicions of the incident being a state-sponsored move to harm a political opponent, questioning the law and order situation in the state.
