Trinamool Congress’s general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, assured to reinstate voting rights for individuals removed from West Bengal’s voter list after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. He made this commitment during an election rally in Karimpur, Nadia district, stating that these rights would be reinstated within a month of forming a new government post the Assembly polls. Banerjee emphasized the importance of voting directly for Mamata Banerjee, promising swift action upon her government’s formation.
During the rally, Banerjee highlighted that despite not being part of the party’s election manifesto, the issue of restoring voting rights was a priority for Trinamool Congress. He criticized the BJP for its alleged exclusion of names, particularly targeting the Matua community. Banerjee accused the BJP of unfair practices, such as providing benefits to those who supported them, and urged voters to be vigilant against such deceitful tactics.
In another public address in Ranaghat, Banerjee continued his critique of the BJP, accusing them of attacking Bengali culture and traditions. He condemned the BJP’s interference in personal choices, specifically regarding dietary preferences, and urged Trinamool candidates to secure victory in the upcoming elections. Banerjee warned against the BJP’s attempts to manipulate voters through financial means, calling on Bengalis to demonstrate their power at the polls on May 4.
