Acting on the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s directions, the ACB Special Unit in Jodhpur arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Hardevram from Shastri Nagar Police Station for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 40,000. The complaint stated that ASI Hardevram demanded the bribe in connection with investigating cross FIRs related to an assault case involving the complainant’s husband.
The complainant accused ASI Hardevram of initially accepting Rs 5,000 to help in the case against her husband. Subsequently, he allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 from another individual, claiming it was for the Station House Officer (SHO) to favorably handle the investigation. The complainant also mentioned ongoing pressure from the accused to pay the bribe.
A trap was set by the ACB under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General Narayan Togas. ASI Hardevram was caught red-handed at the complainant’s residence accepting Rs 40,000 as part of the bribe. The tainted money was recovered from his pocket. Legal proceedings are underway under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police Smita Srivastava and Inspector General S. Parimala.
