Actress Naina Sareen discussed her thorough preparation for portraying a Parsi character in the series “Raakh.” Understanding the character’s importance, she delved into studying Parsi pronunciation, speech patterns, and cultural intricacies to bring authenticity to her role. Naina also adjusted her appearance to suit the period setting of the show before auditioning, expressing her delight in collaborating with director Prashant Roy for this challenging yet rewarding character.
When asked about securing her role in ‘Raakh’ and her preparation process, Naina Sareen revealed, “Upon receiving the audition call, I realized the character’s impact on the story despite the scene’s brevity. Given the Parsi character, I undertook extensive preparation.” She further added, “I familiarized myself with Parsi pronunciation and speech patterns through videos. Additionally, dressing appropriately for the period backdrop was crucial for the audition. Despite the character’s limited screen time, I believed it would make a lasting impression. Working with director Prashant Roy was a dream come true.”
Reflecting on her role in the series, Naina emphasized the mental and physical challenges she faced. The role’s intensity, numerous retakes, and detailed discussions with the director and co-actor before crucial scenes demanded significant energy. Naina highlighted the presence of an intimacy coordinator on set, providing guidance throughout the filming process. Mental preparation, coordination with co-actors, and thorough rehearsal of scene choreography were essential steps before each take, ultimately enhancing the performance.
