BAFTA-nominated actor Adarsh Gourav is delving deep into his role as Maruti, a local rapper from Nalasopara, in the upcoming film Tu Yaa Main. He has spent time in various Mumbai neighborhoods like Govandi, Nalasopara, Kurla, Dharavi, and Andheri, connecting with artists who have shaped the city’s independent rap movement. Adarsh emphasized the importance of understanding Maruti’s background, stating that his portrayal is deeply rooted in the environment where the character grew up.

Adarsh shared that immersing himself in the underground rap community was crucial for capturing the authenticity of Maruti’s character. He highlighted the personal nature of the artists’ music and how their experiences influenced his approach to the role. The actor expressed that the interactions with local artists helped him grasp the passion and authenticity that drive the underground rap scene in Mumbai.

Directed by Bejoy Nambiar and produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma under the banner of Colour Yellow, Tu Yaa Main is a film that reflects contemporary creator-driven culture. Scheduled for release on February 13, 2026, the movie offers a fresh perspective on love and survival. Adarsh Gourav, known for his versatile performances across various platforms, has garnered acclaim for his roles in projects like ‘The White Tiger’ and ‘Made in Heaven’.
