Aditya Sahu has been chosen as the new President of the BJP’s Jharkhand unit, as declared by the party’s central election officer and Union Minister Jual Oram. Sahu, a Rajya Sabha member from Jharkhand, took over the position after filing his nomination unopposed at the state BJP office in Ranchi. With over 20 years of experience in the party, he previously served as the Working President and held key roles like state Vice President and General Secretary.
Sahu, aged 61, has a background in academics and was a lecturer at Ram Tahal Choudhary College until 2019 before being elected to the Rajya Sabha in July 2022. His appointment holds significance in the state’s social and political landscape, given his affiliation with the Vaishya community, a traditional BJP support base. The announcement ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent BJP figures such as Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, Rajya Sabha member Dr. Pradeep Verma, and former CM Madhu Koda.
In addition to Sahu’s election, 21 leaders from Jharkhand were elected to the BJP’s National Council, as revealed by Oram. The newly elected members include notable personalities like Arjun Munda, Raghubar Das, and Madhu Koda. Union Minister Oram was designated as the central election officer for the Jharkhand state President election by the BJP.
