Adobe has named Shamik Basu as the Vice President of the Creative Products Group in India, based in Noida. In this role, Basu will oversee Adobe India’s engineering and product management teams, reporting to Ely Greenfield. He will play a crucial role in driving growth and innovation within the country as part of Adobe’s local leadership team.
Greenfield emphasized the significance of India as a priority market for Adobe in delivering intelligent, creator-focused experiences at scale. He acknowledged the contributions of Indian teams in design, imaging, video, and AI projects like Firefly. Basu expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with teams in India and globally to develop cutting-edge creative technology experiences, particularly in the evolving landscape influenced by AI.
As part of his responsibilities, Basu will collaborate with global teams on key products such as Adobe Firefly, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro. Additionally, he will enhance India’s strategic position in creativity and productivity offerings within the company. With a career spanning over three decades in building large-scale software platforms, Basu brings valuable experience from his previous role at Microsoft, focusing on performance, reliability, and AI-driven user experiences.
Adobe, which established its presence in India in 1997, has evolved into a significant hub with over 8,000 employees across various campuses, playing a pivotal role in the company’s global innovation endeavors. Following this announcement, Adobe Inc’s shares saw a nearly 1% increase, trading at $248.15 on the Nasdaq in the US markets. The company also disclosed that its long-serving CEO, Shantanu Narayen, will step down after nearly twenty years in the position, with plans for a successor to be appointed while Narayen transitions to the role of board chair to facilitate the leadership transition. A special committee has been formed by the board to oversee the search process, evaluating both internal and external candidates.
