A significant increase in advance property tax payments in Ahmedabad, driven by the Municipal Corporation’s rebate scheme, has led to collections surpassing Rs 15 crore in a single day. The scheme, named the “Advance Property Tax Rebate Scheme” for the financial year 2026-27, offers rebates ranging from 12% to 15% to incentivize prompt payments by regular taxpayers.
Since its launch on April 9, the scheme has garnered participation from over five lakh taxpayers, with a total of 13,032 taxpayers contributing Rs 15.34 crore by 6.15 p.m. on Wednesday. This initiative has resulted in sustained daily collections, with a total of 5,29,324 taxpayers in Ahmedabad making advance property tax payments under the rebate scheme.
Participation has been widespread across all seven administrative zones of the city, with variations in uptake observed among regions. Notably, the West Zone saw the highest involvement, with 1,29,863 taxpayers paying their dues and receiving rebates amounting to Rs 14.26 crore. Following closely, the North-West Zone witnessed 1,21,570 taxpayers availing the scheme, securing discounts totaling Rs 14.30 crore.
In addition, the East Zone had 70,281 taxpayers completing payments under the scheme, while the South-West Zone saw 64,690 taxpayers participating. The Central Zone accounted for 49,087 taxpayers, the South Zone for 49,136, and the North Zone for 44,697 taxpayers opting for advance payment. The Municipal Corporation officials highlighted that the scheme accommodates both digital and offline payment systems to enhance accessibility and convenience for taxpayers.
The administration emphasized the consistent participation of both residential and commercial property owners in the rebate scheme. With the scheme set to conclude on May 31, the Municipal Corporation urged eligible taxpayers to take advantage of the rebates, as collections continue to exhibit strong engagement across the city’s civic zones.
