Adverse weather conditions in Delhi disrupted flight operations, leading to the diversion of several flights to Jaipur International Airport. Among the diverted aircraft was Karnataka’s outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s charter flight. The sudden weather deterioration and poor visibility in Delhi prompted authorities to redirect the flight to Jaipur, where it landed safely.
Following the arrival of the Chief Minister’s flight, security measures at Jaipur Airport were heightened. Siddaramaiah, accompanied by nine individuals including Karnataka Minister K.J. George and Congress leader Randeep Surjewala, resigned from his post voluntarily. The Congress Legislature Party, in conjunction with the party’s High Command, will now determine the next Chief Minister for Karnataka.
After tendering his resignation, Siddaramaiah emphasized that his decision was independent and not influenced by external factors. Addressing a press conference alongside Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Home Minister G. Parameshwara, he affirmed his commitment to state politics. The former Chief Minister expressed his dedication to serving the people of Karnataka and fighting against communal forces in the future.
Jaipur Airport experienced a surge in flight activity as multiple flights bound for Delhi were rerouted due to adverse weather conditions. Air India flight AI-1837 from Coimbatore to Delhi, Air India Express flight IX-1671 from Mumbai to Delhi, and other flights were diverted to Jaipur. Airport authorities and Air Traffic Control worked together to ensure the safe landing and management of all diverted flights.
Flight operations to Delhi are anticipated to return to normal once weather conditions in the Delhi-NCR region improve and visibility is restored.
