The Centre announced that Agriculture Ministers from 22 states are backing natural farming both in policy and practice to encourage farmers. At the National Kharif Conference in Delhi, ministers united to enhance farmer livelihoods and agricultural sector strength. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted the importance of safeguarding farms for environmental and future generations’ well-being.
During the conference, Chouhan urged state governments to simplify administrative processes for farmers to benefit more from government schemes. The focus was on promoting balanced fertiliser use rather than banning chemical fertilisers entirely. Chouhan called for a national awareness drive and institutional efforts to achieve this goal effectively.
Chouhan stressed the necessity of establishing coordinated implementation methods and monitoring systems to ensure tangible outcomes on the ground. The conference served as a platform for national commitment and coordination on key issues like Kharif preparedness and self-reliance in pulses and oilseeds. The event highlighted the government’s holistic approach to agriculture under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
