The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to introduce a 33% reservation for women in all upcoming recruitment processes. This move aims to enhance the participation and representation of women within the municipal corporation. The Standing Committee Chairman, Devang Dani, confirmed that this reservation will be implemented in all future recruitment advertisements issued by the civic body.
The Standing Committee, in its recent meeting, also greenlit various infrastructure and civic projects worth Rs 216 crore. These projects include the establishment of an Urban Health Centre (UHC) and a Sub-Health Centre (SHC) in Hathijan. Furthermore, approvals were granted for initiatives related to lakes, water supply, drainage systems, and the replacement of bearings beneath four bridges.
In addressing traffic management concerns, Dani mentioned that the AMC collaborated with the traffic police to identify congested areas across the city. To alleviate traffic flow, 85 left turns were recommended for opening, with 55 already operational. Additionally, plans are underway to open the Danapith Fire Station and an associated parking facility in the central zone by the end of the month, pending final online clearances.
The ongoing Kharicut Canal project, currently in Phase 1 and spanning 12.5 kilometers, is nearing completion with 205 poles already erected. Subsequent phases will focus on beautification efforts, with a roadshow and the laying of the foundation stone for Phase 2 scheduled for later this month by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
