Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is set to challenge the perception of Arshad Warsi being typecast in comedy roles with his upcoming series “Pritam and Pedro.” In an interview, Hirani expressed his excitement about showcasing a different facet of Warsi, aiming to shift his on-screen image. The show, featuring Warsi as a cop in a cybercrime series, marks their third collaboration.
Hirani revealed that despite wanting to work with Warsi earlier, it was the unique script of “Pritam and Pedro” that finally brought them together. The director emphasized that the role offered to Warsi goes beyond comedy, delving into a serious character with a profound backstory. He highlighted that the series blends humor with a more intense side of Warsi, challenging the notion that he is solely associated with comedy roles.
Explaining the distinctive approach of “Pritam and Pedro” in the cybercrime genre, Hirani noted a departure from the typically dark and serious tone of such shows. The series promises a fast-paced narrative filled with humor, emotion, and intriguing character backgrounds, ensuring a dynamic viewing experience without prolonged storylines. Hirani’s creation is scheduled to premiere on July 3, 2026, featuring a talented cast including Vir Hirani, Vikrant Massey, and Boman Irani.
