Wimbledon organisers and top tennis players have come to a temporary agreement to allow regular media activities during this year’s Championships. This agreement follows discussions between player representatives and the All England Club, addressing concerns about media access restrictions during the tournament.
The disagreement originated from a campaign launched by players in March 2025, advocating for a larger share of Grand Slam revenues, increased player welfare contributions, and the establishment of a formal player committee within major tournaments. Despite Wimbledon’s announcement of increased prize money for 2026, players expressed ongoing financial concerns, hinting at potential boycotts if issues were not resolved.
After recent talks, players have agreed to resume full media engagements for the tournament. They have confirmed this decision based on Wimbledon’s commitment to address the players’ demands from July 2025. While the core issues remain unresolved, players will assess the proposals received and continue discussions with Wimbledon and other Grand Slam events.
The All England Club has also committed to presenting concrete plans for revised prize money distribution and enhanced player representation, aligning with discussions at the French Open. Players stress that the broader dispute is not fully settled, and negotiations will persist during and after Wimbledon.
