The Ahmedabad Police swiftly solved a Rs 20 lakh house-breaking theft in the Kalupur area, arresting a 37-year-old suspect at Kalupur Railway Station as he tried to flee Gujarat with part of the stolen cash. The burglary occurred at R.M. Handloom House, where the accused entered by pulling the shop’s shutter away from the wall and stole the cash from an unlocked safe.
Police registered a complaint under relevant sections of the law and launched a priority investigation led by top officials. With the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Rupal Solanki, the Local Crime Branch teams analyzed CCTV footage and conducted technical analysis to track the suspect’s movements. The breakthrough came when the suspect was apprehended at the railway station with a bag containing the stolen cash.
The arrested individual, identified as Sabir alias Chhotu Sheikh, had been residing in Ahmedabad for several months and hailed from West Bengal. Police recovered Rs 14 lakh in cash and a mobile phone from him, with the total value of the recovered property amounting to Rs 14.10 lakh. The accused, with a history of criminal activities in West Bengal, allegedly committed the theft to fund his grandmother’s medical treatment.
