AIADMK leader and Member of Parliament (RS) I.S. Inbadurai has raised concerns about the security arrangements for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. Despite being under the protection of an extensive state security setup, Vijay continues to have a private bodyguard by his side. Inbadurai questioned the necessity of this private security detail given the multiple layers of official security already in place.
Vijay, who recently won the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and assumed office as Chief Minister, is safeguarded by a comprehensive security network provided by the state government. This security apparatus includes specialized personnel dedicated to ensuring the chief minister’s safety during public events and official duties. In a social media post, Inbadurai expressed doubts about the need for a private security aide alongside the official security team.
The AIADMK leader raised doubts about the confidence in the protection offered by the Tamil Nadu Police and other official security agencies responsible for the chief minister’s safety. He also questioned the adherence to security protocols and access regulations in high-security zones around the chief minister. Inbadurai sought clarification on the legitimacy of an individual outside the official security structure acting as a constant security presence for the chief minister.
He emphasized the importance of both physical and information security in this matter, calling for a detailed explanation from the state government. Inbadurai urged the Tamil Nadu administration to clarify whether having a private bodyguard within the chief minister’s security perimeter aligns with established security norms and whether adequate measures are in place to prevent any compromise of official security procedures.
