Senior AIADMK leaders, such as S.P. Velumani, C. Vijayabaskar, and Leema Rose, engaged in discussions with party leader C.V. Shanmugam regarding ongoing political changes in Tamil Nadu. The talks come as AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami is yet to finalize the party’s political strategy in the current scenario.
The recent Tamil Nadu elections, held on April 23 across all 234 Assembly constituencies, featured a competitive four-way battle involving the DMK, AIADMK, Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), and actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Following the vote count on May 4, TVK, led by Vijay, emerged as the largest party with 108 seats but fell short of the majority mark of 118 in the 234-member Assembly.
In the aftermath, AIADMK has been actively seeking external support to establish a government. Both the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) have pledged their backing to TVK. Additionally, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) have also announced their support for TVK.
