Amid uncertainty over Tamil Nadu’s government formation, AIADMK’s Edappadi K. Palaniswami has assured party MLAs that they will lead the state’s next government. This follows the recent election results, leaving Tamil Nadu in a political deadlock unseen in decades.
Despite C. Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam emerging as the largest party with 108 seats, it falls short of the majority needed to govern. AIADMK MLAs are currently housed in a luxury resort in Puducherry amidst intense political discussions and concerns of potential poaching.
Palaniswami, elected leader of the AIADMK Legislature Party, expressed optimism to MLAs, urging patience as he assured them of the AIADMK’s government formation. Notably, 28 out of 47 AIADMK MLAs are at the Puducherry resort, with AMMK MLA S. Kamaraj also present.
In Chennai, DMK, under M.K. Stalin’s leadership, criticized Congress for supporting TVK post-election. DMK granted Stalin authority to make crucial decisions for a stable government in Tamil Nadu. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar stated readiness to invite any group with necessary numbers to form the government, amid reports of potential TVK MLA resignations.
