A team of four senior doctors from AIIMS Delhi’s Forensic Medicine Department will conduct a second autopsy on the body of Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old woman, in Bhopal. The Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered this fresh autopsy in the case of her mysterious death. The team, arriving on a state-chartered aircraft, will use modern forensic instruments for the examination.
The medical board, led by Dr. Sudhir Gupta, Chief of Forensic Medicine at AIIMS Delhi, will examine Twisha Sharma’s body on Sunday morning. Equipped with the latest instruments, the team aims to provide crucial clarity in this high-profile case. Twisha Sharma was found hanging at her in-laws’ residence in Bhopal, sparking contradictory narratives from both sides.
Twisha Sharma’s husband, Samarth Singh, who was absconding, withdrew his anticipatory bail plea and was arrested. He is now in police custody for detailed questioning. Singh’s mother, Giribala Singh, a former judge, faces a notice seeking bail cancellation over alleged non-cooperation with the investigation. The case involves allegations of drug addiction and dowry harassment, leading to Twisha Sharma’s death.
The AIIMS Delhi team’s arrival is expected to enhance transparency and scientific rigor in the investigation. Police officials hope that the second autopsy, along with Singh’s interrogation, will reveal the truth behind Twisha Sharma’s death.
