Airlines have issued travel advisories for passengers traveling to and from Delhi and other cities, cautioning about possible disruptions because of adverse weather conditions. IndiGo mentioned that flights in Delhi and Bengaluru might experience slight impacts due to expected thundershowers, while Air India highlighted persistent rain and strong winds in Delhi and parts of north India. Despite efforts by operational teams to minimize disruptions, both airlines warned of potential minor delays in flight schedules. Passengers are advised to check their flight status on airline websites or mobile apps before heading to the airport.
Air India also recommended that travelers allocate extra time for their journey, considering the likelihood of slower road traffic due to the weather conditions. In Delhi, residents woke up to a cloudy morning with some parts of the city receiving up to 12.5 mm of rainfall. The minimum temperature recorded was 17.6 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted a generally cloudy sky in the national capital with more rain expected during the day. The IMD predicted “one or two spells of very light to light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, in the afternoon or evening.”
The weather agency issued a broader warning, anticipating scattered thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall or hailstorms across the Western Himalayan region and parts of northwest, central, and east India over the next few days.
