Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) National President and MLA-elect, Humayun Kabir, criticized outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for not resigning from her position. Kabir, who won in the Rejinagar and Nowda constituencies, called Banerjee an “ill-mannered woman” lacking decency. He mentioned that the Governor might have to intervene if she does not accept the transition of power.
Kabir suggested that Banerjee should focus on spiritual activities, urging her to visit a temple and engage in prayer. He also commended the Election Commission of India for overseeing a peaceful election process, dismissing any allegations of misconduct. Kabir highlighted the significant public support at his victory procession, attributing it to a perceived decline of the Trinamool Congress in the state.
In the recent elections, the BJP secured 206 seats, surpassing the Trinamool Congress, which won 81 seats. Notably, Banerjee lost her Bhabanipur seat to BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari by a considerable margin. The Trinamool Congress faced defeat in multiple districts and failed to secure seats in tribal and Matua-dominated constituencies.
