Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2026, triggering criticism from Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Yadav accused the BJP of crafting budgets that primarily benefit a small segment of society, estimating it to cater to just five percent of the population aligned with the ruling party. Expressing disappointment, Yadav emphasized the need for budgets to uplift the underprivileged and enhance their quality of life.
Yadav, addressing reporters outside Parliament, expressed skepticism towards the BJP-led government and its budgetary priorities. He highlighted that past budgets seemed tailored to favor a mere fraction of the population, indicating a skewed focus on a specific group’s advancement. The SP chief stressed the importance of a budget that brings joy to the impoverished and genuinely enhances their well-being.
Questioning the government’s performance, Yadav urged the BJP to fulfill its promises outlined in its manifesto. He pointed out discrepancies between the government’s claims of progress and the ground realities faced by citizens. Yadav criticized the administration for failing to address critical issues such as pollution, public health concerns, and economic disparities effectively.
