In response to the recent fire tragedy in Lucknow that claimed the lives of 15 people, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav criticized the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Yadav expressed sadness over the incident, highlighting the loss of students and individuals who were at the building for coaching or work purposes. He emphasized the emotional turmoil faced by families as victims reached out for help during the fire.
Yadav accused the government of negligence and corruption, citing previous incidents in Lucknow where lives were lost due to fires. He pointed out similar tragedies in the city, including fires in a slum, Charbagh, and a hotel in Hazratganj. The SP chief condemned the commercial activities being conducted in a residential area, questioning the government’s accountability in ensuring public safety.
Questioning the government’s response to the tragedy, Yadav criticized the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) as a means to evade responsibility. He compared this approach to the handling of the alleged theft of donations from Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, expressing disappointment in the government’s actions over the past decade. Yadav alleged a culture of corruption and exploitation under the BJP-led administration.
