Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav criticized the Uttar Pradesh Budget for 2026–27, labeling it a “farewell Budget.” He accused the Yogi Adityanath government of inefficiency in utilizing allocated funds across various sectors despite the Budget’s substantial size. Akhilesh Yadav expressed doubts about the actual expenditure, highlighting low spending percentages in key areas like agriculture, rural development, health, and education.
The Uttar Pradesh government presented a Budget exceeding Rs 9 lakh crore, claiming it to be the largest in the state’s history. However, Akhilesh Yadav questioned the government’s spending efficiency, pointing out that the actual expenditure falls significantly short of the allocated amounts. He criticized the government for failing to effectively utilize funds in crucial sectors, indicating a gap between announced figures and implementation on the ground.
Akhilesh Yadav raised concerns about the state’s economic targets, particularly questioning the discrepancy between the claimed Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and the actual figures. He also highlighted issues related to MSMEs, employment, healthcare, and law and order, suggesting that the Budget appears more as a political move than a practical development strategy.
