Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has raised concerns about the Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) investigation into the alleged misappropriation of donations at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple. He called for scrutiny of the accused’s call detail records and accountability of senior temple trust officials. Responding to this, Uttar Pradesh Ministers criticized Yadav, suggesting he should first seek blessings at the temple before commenting.
Yadav criticized the SIT’s approach, questioning why individuals not mentioned in the interim report were included in the final one. He highlighted the arrest of the driver of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’s former General Secretary, emphasizing that the owner is also implicated when the driver is involved.
Calling for the dissolution of the trust, Yadav emphasized the need for a thorough judicial investigation into all land deals and actions approved by those who have resigned. He stressed that resignations should not serve as a means to evade accountability.
In response to Yadav’s statements, Uttar Pradesh Ministers dismissed his remarks, urging him to visit the temple before commenting. They criticized the Samajwadi Party and accused them of disrespecting religious sentiments and creating distrust in society. The state government defended the SIT’s integrity and accused the Opposition of pursuing a negative agenda.
