In a move to enhance transparency and efficiency in the Maharashtra Legislature, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled a cutting-edge digital dashboard for tracking pending parliamentary motions. This dashboard will offer real-time updates on various parliamentary matters like questions, discussions, and special mentions. The system aims to improve coordination between the state government and the legislature, marking a step towards digital transformation.
Legislature Secretary Jitendra Bhole highlighted the features of the dashboard during the launch event and discussed the ongoing digitalization efforts within the institution. The resolution to digitize both houses was passed in July 2022, with advanced multimedia systems now installed at legislators’ desks for easy access to proceedings and online resources. Plans include providing library materials inside the chamber with a single click.
The digitization project of the legislature has gained momentum, with historical debates and proceedings already digitized, along with audiovisual archives since 2013. This digital repository will serve as a valuable resource for research and administration purposes. Efforts are underway to digitize government publications, committee reports, and judicial judgments, with the aim of modernizing administrative operations.
The newly introduced digital dashboard is set to revolutionize the tracking of parliamentary motions, replacing the traditional paper-based system. It will offer instant access to the status and breakdown of legislative actions, benefiting the Committee on Subordinate Legislation. By enabling online monitoring of pending queries, the system is expected to streamline the process of official responses, promoting accountability and efficiency in the parliamentary ecosystem.
