This initiative combines the excitement of a commercial sports and entertainment league with civic duties. Kumar expressed his vision for a cleaner Mumbai, emphasizing the city’s energy and the desire for a pollution-free environment.
The Mumbai Clean League, a civic project by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, focuses on enhancing urban cleanliness through competitive activities among different city wards. It evaluates areas based on waste management, sanitation, citizen involvement, and recycling innovations. The league’s structure promotes accountability among officials and encourages participation from residents, housing societies, and local communities.
This initiative includes regular assessments, unannounced inspections, and public performance reports to ensure transparency. It complements national cleanliness campaigns like the Swachh Bharat Mission, aiming to instigate behavioral changes alongside infrastructure enhancements for a cleaner and more sustainable Mumbai.
