Amanda Anisimova secured her spot in the Australian Open quarterfinals by defeating Wang Xinyu 7-6(4) 6-4 at John Cain Arena. Anisimova, a Wimbledon and US Open finalist from last year, is yet to drop a set in this Grand Slam. She will now face Jessica Pegula, who leads their head-to-head series 3-0.

The match between Anisimova and Wang was intense, with a gripping tiebreak in the opening set. Anisimova’s strong serving and precise shot-making skills proved crucial in securing her victory. Despite Wang’s resilience, Anisimova’s composure under pressure led her to a hard-fought straight-sets win.

In another game at Margaret Court Arena, Elena Rybakina defeated Elise Mertens 6-1, 6-3 in just over an hour. Rybakina’s dominant performance, especially in serving and baseline play, allowed her to clinch the match convincingly. She will now face either Iga Swiatek or Maddison Inglis in the quarterfinals.
