Amid the ongoing Assembly elections in West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to participate in five political programs in the state on Tuesday. His schedule includes four public meetings in various districts like Malda, Nadia, and South 24 Parganas, along with a roadshow. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will kick off his campaign with three public rallies in North Dinajpur, Malda, and Murshidabad districts.
Rahul Gandhi’s campaign itinerary involves public meetings in Raiganj, Chanchal, and Samsernagar, starting from Purnia Airport in Bihar. Trinamool Congress Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will also address three public meetings in West Midnapore, East Midnapore, and Howrah districts. Additionally, Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee will conduct a roadshow in Cooch Behar and a public meeting in Jalpaiguri district.
During these events, discussions are expected to focus on the recent arrest of Vinesh Chandel, co-founder of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), by the Enforcement Directorate. Abhishek Banerjee criticized the arrest, linking it to a coal smuggling case in West Bengal and Jharkhand, raising concerns about fairness in the upcoming elections. I-PAC has been associated with Trinamool Congress as its vote strategy agency since 2020.
