Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that 6,900 companies in West Bengal closed or relocated to other states between 2011 and 2025. Shah highlighted the decline in the state’s economic indicators during the Trinamool Congress rule. Speaking at a BJP rally in Siliguri, he emphasized the impact on the state’s GDP and per capita income.
Shah compared the central funds allocated to West Bengal under the NDA and UPA regimes. He noted that during the UPA rule (2004-2014), only Rs 2,00,000 crore was allotted, whereas under the NDA (since 2014), it reached Rs 10 lakh crore. Shah accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of corruption, stating that if BJP wins, those involved will face legal consequences.
The Home Minister criticized the neglect of North Bengal’s development by the current government. He assured higher budgetary allocations for the region if BJP comes to power. Shah reiterated BJP’s stance on illegal infiltration, promising to halt it and deport existing infiltrators. He highlighted the importance of a special regime to identify and address illegal immigration concerns.
