Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed optimism that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would secure victory in Tamil Nadu’s 2026 Assembly elections, believing that the ruling DMK would be ousted by the electorate. Speaking at the conclusion of the ‘Tamilagam Thalai Nimir Tamilan Payanam’ yatra in Pudukottai, Shah urged the people to unite under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the state’s progress.
Shah announced plans for the BJP, AIADMK, and other NDA partners to unite and establish a robust coalition to govern Tamil Nadu. Emphasizing the determination to displace the DMK government, Shah vowed to bring an end to its rule and criticized its governance, particularly on women’s safety and alleged nepotism.
Accusing the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam of unfulfilled promises and favoritism towards M. K. Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Shah reiterated the NDA’s confidence in securing a majority in the upcoming elections. He highlighted past electoral collaborations between BJP and AIADMK and dismissed claims of being “anti-Tamil,” citing pro-Tamil initiatives under the Modi administration.
Shah condemned the DMK for alleged infringements on Hindu religious practices and emphasized the NDA’s aim to win majorities in both Tamil Nadu and West Bengal in 2026, pointing to the importance of safeguarding Hindu rights.
