Union Home Minister Amit Shah has raised concerns about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s alleged disregard for his seven letters requesting land allocation to the Border Security Force (BSF) along the state’s border with Bangladesh. Shah questioned the delay in providing land for barbed fencing despite multiple meetings and emphasized the importance of effective border security. He also addressed the issue of illegal infiltration in West Bengal, dismissing claims of a political understanding between BJP and Trinamool Congress.
Shah assured that BJP would not engage in any understanding with parties supporting illegal infiltration, highlighting the seriousness of the demographic changes due to infiltration. He warned that failure to curb illegal infiltration would escalate the challenges faced by the people of West Bengal. Additionally, Shah accused the West Bengal government of compromising Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) rules in the appointment of senior officials, including the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police.
