Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah recently inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 47 development projects totaling Rs 620 crore in Gandhinagar. These projects, overseen by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, cover various sectors like healthcare, water supply, sewage treatment, roads, gardens, sports infrastructure, and urban civic facilities. The event, graced by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure and public services across the Gandhinagar parliamentary constituency.
Among the projects unveiled were a modern sewage treatment plant at Kolvada costing Rs 16.11 crore and a Sector-1 garden developed at Rs 10.51 crore. The sewage plant, equipped with ISR technology, can treat three MLD of polluted water daily, addressing environmental issues in the area. Additionally, the garden in Sector-1 spans 19,038 square meters and offers various amenities like walking tracks, yoga spaces, open gym equipment, and children’s play areas.
During the inauguration, Amit Shah emphasized the importance of greenery by planting a banyan tree and highlighting the goal of planting five lakh trees in Gandhinagar this year. The event also marked the opening of modern yoga studios in Sector-25 and Sargasan, costing Rs 2.95 crore, which are expected to benefit over 2,000 residents. Furthermore, urban health centers in Sector-21, Sector-22, and Sargasan were inaugurated to enhance healthcare services for local residents.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reiterated the government’s commitment to developing clean, green, and well-equipped cities in Gujarat. He praised Amit Shah’s sustainable development vision for Gandhinagar, aiming to make it the greenest parliamentary constituency in India. The ceremony also saw the launch of various projects like sports complexes, community halls, road developments, and sewage treatment facilities, reflecting a significant push towards urban infrastructure development.
