Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared Suvendu Adhikari as the upcoming Chief Minister of West Bengal, establishing the state’s first BJP-led government post-independence. This decision was finalized during a meeting led by Shah with newly elected BJP legislators after the recent West Bengal Assembly elections results were announced on May 4.
The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, as confirmed by HM Shah. Adhikari’s appointment as the leader of the BJP’s legislative party in the West Bengal Assembly signifies his forthcoming role as the state’s Chief Minister.
During the meeting, Adhikari’s name was officially approved as the BJP’s legislative party leader in the state assembly, solidifying his position as the next Chief Minister. Shah stated, “I proposed the name of Suvendu Adhikari as the next Chief Minister of West Bengal,” emphasizing the completion of the selection process.
Adhikari, elected from both Nandigram and Bhabanipur assembly constituencies, emerged victorious over former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the latter. With this win, Adhikari has once again proven his leadership potential, securing his position to lead the BJP’s inaugural government in West Bengal.
