Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress party during a rally in Assam’s Sribhumi district, emphasizing the BJP’s role in protecting the state from illegal infiltration and preserving its cultural identity. Shah stated that the BJP government has identified infiltrators and pledged to remove them if re-elected. He accused illegal migrants of depriving locals of jobs, benefits, and wages.
Shah highlighted that under BJP-NDA governance in Assam, West Bengal, and Tripura, infiltration would be halted. He criticized Congress for allegedly supporting infiltrators for votes, citing the party’s past actions that he claimed facilitated illegal migration. Shah also defended the Citizenship Amendment Act, stating its importance in safeguarding persecuted minorities.
The Home Minister further asserted the BJP’s commitment to renaming Karimganj as “Sribhumi” to honor the region’s cultural heritage. He took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that under his leadership, Congress had regressed in public perception. Shah assured voters of BJP’s dedication to safeguarding Assam’s interests and urged them to reject Congress’ divisive politics.
Shah expressed confidence in BJP’s victory in Assam to combat infiltration, emphasizing the party’s focus on protecting the state’s land, identity, and economy.
