Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the 11th INTERPOL Digital Forensics Expert Group Meeting at the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar. The event will bring together representatives from 47 countries and senior law enforcement officials to discuss advancements in digital forensic investigation. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and NFSU Vice-Chancellor Dr J.M. Vyas will attend the inaugural ceremony.
The meeting, hosted for the second time by NFSU since 2022, aims to enhance global cooperation and promote the use of scientific methods in criminal investigations. During the inauguration, Home Minister Shah will unveil three new Centers of Excellence at the university. These include the Center of Excellence in Financial Crime Investigation, an AI-based data investigation facility for comprehensive financial fraud inquiries, the Center of Excellence in Media Forensics offering training in celebrity interviews and forensic journalism, and the Center of Excellence in Crime Scene Management merging traditional crime investigation with advanced forensic technologies.
Additionally, HM Shah will inaugurate the ‘Cyber Forensic Investigation Van,’ Asia’s first advanced mobile forensic laboratory with cutting-edge digital forensic capabilities. Developed under the Ministry of Home Affairs by NFSU, the vehicle aims to swiftly reach crime scenes for immediate digital evidence recovery, analysis, and reporting. An exhibition featuring over 30 multinational companies specializing in digital forensics and cybersecurity will run alongside the conference.
The program will extend to July 15 with the first International Investigation Competition and a summit themed “AI-enabled Digital Forensic Investigation,” jointly organized by NFSU and INTERPOL. The initiative seeks to foster innovation, collaboration, and excellence in criminal investigation and forensic science by providing a platform for global investigators, forensic professionals, academics, and experts to engage.
