Union Home Minister Amit Shah revealed a majestic statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Maharashtra Bhavan in Gandhinagar. The ceremony witnessed the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, senior BJP leaders, Maharashtrian community members, and a large crowd. Shah emphasized that the statue symbolizes Shivaji Maharaj’s bravery, strategic acumen, and dedication to ‘Swaraj.’
Highlighting Shivaji Maharaj’s historical significance, Shah mentioned his resolve to establish ‘Hindavi Swaraj’ at a young age amidst foreign rule across India. He credited Shivaji Maharaj’s determination and values instilled by his mother for liberating the region from centuries of oppression. Drawing parallels, Shah linked Shivaji Maharaj’s temple restoration efforts to contemporary initiatives championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shah also praised Shivaji Maharaj’s promotion of Sanskrit and Marathi languages over Persian and Urdu, along with his foundational role in the Indian Navy. He commended the Indian Navy’s removal of symbols of subjugation and the establishment of ‘Shiv Mudrika’ under PM Modi’s leadership. Shah highlighted the realization of Shivaji Maharaj’s vision through the emphasis on Swaraj, native languages, and faith in current times.
Recalling national poet Jhaverchand Meghani’s poetic tribute to Shivaji Maharaj, Shah noted the enduring patriotic impact of the song ‘Shivaji nu Halardu’ in Gujarat. The lifelike depiction of Shivaji Maharaj on horseback in the statue was lauded for its potential to inspire patriotism and devotion for future generations. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including state BJP officials and local representatives, alongside a large audience.
