Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah encouraged Gujarat on Sunday to strive for a prominent position in India’s service industry, aiming to align Ahmedabad with major tech hubs like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Gurugram. Speaking at the inauguration of Million Minds Tech City, Gujarat’s first SEZ IT park, Shah highlighted the state’s transition towards technology, innovation, and skilled employment, building upon its strong industrial foundation. He stressed the need for tech parks like this to elevate Ahmedabad’s competitiveness in the service sector, emphasizing the importance of such infrastructure for growth.
Shah attributed Gujarat’s industrial progress to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance during his tenure as the state’s chief minister, lauding the structured approach towards development, ease of doing business initiatives, and entrepreneurship-friendly policies. He praised the entrepreneurial spirit ingrained in Gujaratis and the government’s continuous support through infrastructure, financial systems, and policy frameworks. The Tech City’s initial phase, covering 13.5 lakh square feet with an investment of around Rs 1,100 crore, is set to provide a modern workspace for 9,000 highly skilled professionals.
The comprehensive development plan for Tech City, spanning 65 acres in seven phases, aims to create over 63,000 high-value jobs in the next five years, with an estimated investment of Rs 15,000 crore. Shah highlighted this project as indicative of Gujarat’s shift towards technology parks and global capability centers, signaling a strategic move in the state’s economic landscape. The event, attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and representatives from Ganesh Housing Limited, emphasized the state’s commitment to fostering technological innovation and high-quality employment opportunities.
