A new chapter in Indian Railways’ history unfolded as the Amrit Bharat Express commenced its first journey from Dibrugarh, Assam, to Gomti Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, following its formal inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This launch signifies a significant advancement in rail connectivity for Assam and the Northeast region. Prime Minister Modi kickstarted two Amrit Bharat Express train services, a move set to bolster Assam’s railway infrastructure and enhance connectivity with key destinations across the country.
The introduction of these services is expected to strengthen rail links between Assam and various important locations nationwide, ultimately improving travel convenience and accessibility for passengers. Assam Power Minister Prasanta Phukan expressed his delight at the launch, emphasizing the positive impact the Amrit Bharat Express will have on the people of Dibrugarh and Assam. He extended heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the residents.
Phukan highlighted the significant benefits of the new services, stating that they will greatly benefit Assam by making travel easier and faster. With the Amrit Bharat Express, the journey from Dibrugarh to Guwahati can now be completed in just 9 hours, a remarkable improvement in travel time. These newly-launched train services will operate on the Dibrugarh–Gomti Nagar and Kamakhya–Rohtak routes, offering enhanced long-distance travel options with improved comfort and connectivity for passengers.
The flagging-off ceremony of the Amrit Bharat Express took place during the Prime Minister’s visit to Assam, where he virtually inaugurated the two trains, signaling the commencement of their operations. The aim of launching the Amrit Bharat Express is to enhance passenger convenience, reduce travel time, and make long-distance rail travel more affordable.
