Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed gratitude to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for his consistent backing in enhancing the state’s national highway system. Naidu appreciated the focus on improving connectivity to existing and upcoming ports, particularly highlighting the significance of the Machilipatnam port connectivity project in reducing logistics costs and linking the hinterland efficiently.
Nitin Gadkari disclosed the approval of Rs 573.77 crore for constructing a 6-lane external port connectivity road in Andhra Pradesh, connecting NH-65 and NH-216 to Machilipatnam Port through the Machilipatnam bypass section of NH-216. This initiative aims to streamline freight movement, alleviate traffic congestion, and enhance overall logistics efficiency by establishing a direct link between the port and the national highway corridor.
Acknowledging Gadkari’s pivotal role in bolstering Andhra Pradesh’s infrastructure and port-led development, State Minister for Information Technology and Human Resources Development Nara Lokesh lauded the transformative support. The proposed six-lane external connectivity road to Machilipatnam Port is expected to boost logistics efficiency and create new economic prospects for the state, reflecting a shared vision for robust highway infrastructure that drives India’s progress and the future of Andhra Pradesh.
