Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has instructed the Forest Department to stay alert regarding a tiger’s presence in the forest area bordering Polavaram district. He emphasized the need for modern monitoring systems to track tiger movements and ensure timely alerts to nearby villages. Following a recent tiger attack on sheep, Kalyan expressed concern and directed officials to take necessary precautions to protect both humans and livestock.
Pawan Kalyan, who also serves as the Minister for Forest and Environment, conducted a review meeting with senior Forest Department officials to address incidents of tiger attacks on livestock in Polavaram. The officials reported tiger movements in the Thimmapuram Reserve Forest, with the tiger currently roaming in the area and approaching nearby villages. Kalyan stressed the importance of field-level staff remaining vigilant and conducting awareness campaigns in affected villages.
To enhance monitoring efforts, Kalyan urged the deployment of HANUMAN teams for round-the-clock surveillance in villages near the tiger’s path. He emphasized the need for adherence to wildlife conservation regulations and the use of advanced technology to track tiger movements effectively. Additionally, Kalyan instructed officials to provide support and guidance to villagers on safety measures to prevent conflicts with wildlife.
In response to the tiger attack on sheep in Chikilinta Panchayat, Kalyan expressed condolences for the loss of livestock and emphasized the efficient handling of such situations by Forest Department staff in the past. He directed the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests to oversee operations personally and deploy additional resources as needed to ensure the safety of both wildlife and local communities.
