Andhra Pradesh is experiencing a severe heat wave, with Chityala in East Godavari district reaching a scorching 48.3 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature this season. Tanuku in West Godavari district and Piduguralla in Palnadu district also recorded high temperatures of 48.1 degrees Celsius, according to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).
SDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain reported that temperatures surpassed 45 degrees Celsius in 13 districts, with over 44 degrees Celsius recorded in 174 mandals across 17 districts. The heat wave has been particularly intense in various areas, including Eluru, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Bapatla, NTR, Palnadu, Konaseema, and Kakinada districts.
Due to the extreme heat, the public is advised to stay cautious as these conditions are expected to persist for the next three days. Jain recommended avoiding travel between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. if possible and stressed the importance of carrying water for those who must travel.
Severe heat wave conditions are forecasted for Monday in 29 mandals, with a general heat wave expected in 166 mandals. On Tuesday, 50 mandals are likely to experience severe heat wave conditions, while 205 mandals may face a general heat wave. Various districts in Andhra Pradesh are expected to see temperatures ranging from 40 to 47 degrees Celsius.
