Andhra Pradesh is set to transition towards data-driven governance, as announced by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during a Planning department review meeting. The state aims to focus on real-time monitoring instead of traditional methods to estimate the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). Naidu stressed the importance of achieving a 15% growth rate to meet the objectives of Swarna Andhra–2047 and instructed officials to enhance institutional capacity for a stronger state economy.
The review meeting highlighted key areas such as GSDP capacity building, AI-based economic analysis, conducting major surveys statewide, and providing training to officials at district and mandal levels. Naidu expressed concerns over the current quarterly and annual GSDP estimates, emphasizing the need for a system that can track economic growth monthly across all districts and mandals. He urged officials to train government staff in GSDP methodologies to generate faster, data-driven estimates.
To facilitate this shift, the Chief Minister mandated a three-month capacity-building program for all districts and specialized training for three officials from each Assembly constituency. Officials also informed Naidu about the development of AI-based economic analysis systems for agriculture, industry, and services sectors. They were directed to identify and include untracked indicators to enhance economic forecasting and policymaking.
