Respecting the bravery of Anganwadi worker Kanchan Bai Meghwal, who gave her life to protect around 20 children from a swarm of bees in Neemuch district, Madhya Pradesh, the state government will grant Rs 4 lakh to her family. Kanchan Bai Meghwal, a Dalit woman, worked as a cook at an Anganwadi center in Ranpur village. On February 2, a beehive near the center led to an attack on the children playing there.
Panic spread as the bees surrounded the children, but Kanchan Bai Meghwal displayed immense courage. She swiftly gathered tarpaulin sheets, mats, and blankets to shield each child individually. By positioning herself as a target, she diverted the bees’ attention, guiding the children to safety inside a room.
Despite her valiant efforts, she succumbed to the bee stings. Rushed to a nearby health center, she was pronounced dead upon arrival due to the severe venom. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed sorrow over her demise and pledged Rs 4 lakh as financial aid to her family. He also promised free education for all the children rescued by Kanchan Bai Meghwal.
Villagers revealed that Kanchan Bai Meghwal’s husband, Shivalal, is paralyzed, and she single-handedly managed the family’s finances and raised their son and two daughters.
