Anonymous emails threatening bomb attacks on three courts in Odisha, namely in Cuttack, Sambalpur, and Deogarh, led to a state of panic among officials. The registrars of the District and Sessions Courts in these locations received the threatening emails, prompting the immediate evacuation of court premises and suspension of all activities. Local police, bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and cyber experts were deployed to search the areas following the receipt of the threat mails.
The Odisha Police have heightened security measures at the court premises to prevent any potential untoward incidents. YB Khurania, the Director General of Police, Odisha, confirmed the reception of anonymous emails threatening to damage court premises and assured a thorough investigation. Police checks and increased security protocols have been implemented across all locations as a precautionary step.
In response to the situation, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep concern over the threat mails directed at district-level courts in Cuttack, Sambalpur, and Deogarh. The Chief Minister instructed senior state government officials to conduct a comprehensive investigation to verify the credibility of the threats. Additionally, he held discussions with key officials, urging them to closely monitor the situation and swiftly apprehend those responsible for the threatening emails.
The Chief Minister emphasized the seriousness of the incident and stressed the need for a meticulous investigation. Officials have been directed to gather detailed information from the concerned locations to determine the motives behind the threats. A high-level meeting is scheduled later in the day for a detailed review of the incident.
