The Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) announced the arrest of a long-sought drug peddler in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Identified as Tamana Ashraf, she had been evading arrest for three years and was involved in trafficking over 7 kgs of charas to Mumbai through courier services. Despite facing charges in multiple states, she was apprehended at her Batamaloo residence in Srinagar. ANTF’s persistent efforts led to her capture, underscoring their dedication to combating drug crimes.
Law enforcement in Jammu and Kashmir has taken a comprehensive approach to counter terrorism. Operations target not only terrorists but also their support networks, including over ground workers, sympathizers, drug smugglers, peddlers, and individuals linked to illicit money channels like hawala. By disrupting these networks, security forces aim to weaken the financial backing that sustains terrorism in the region.
The collaborative efforts of various security forces aim to dismantle the entire terrorism support structure in Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on eradicating all forms of support rather than solely targeting armed militants. Responsibilities such as preventing infiltration, ex-filtration, and drug trafficking are overseen by the Army and the BSF.
