The special MP-MLA court in Gopalganj has granted anticipatory bail to Anant Singh and Bhojpuri singer Gunjan Singh in a case involving the alleged display of weapons and performance of objectionable songs during a public event in Bihar. The incident occurred during an Upanayan Sanskar organized in Semrao village on May 2, leading to a controversy after a video of the event circulated on social media.

Following the video’s dissemination, an FIR was filed against multiple individuals, including Anant Singh and Gunjan Singh. The court, after considering arguments from both sides, provided relief to all the accused, with the defence highlighting concerns about the authenticity of the viral video and the lack of concrete evidence such as a Forensic Science Laboratory report or recovered weapons.

The defence further argued that the FIR lacked substantial proof and was primarily based on an unverified video circulating on social media. This legal development offers respite to Anant Singh and Gunjan Singh as investigations continue, now under the purview of the Criminal Investigation Department. The focus shifts to the CID inquiry and the forthcoming forensic and investigative assessments of the viral video and related accusations.
