In the inaugural World Yogasana Championships in Ahmedabad, an Argentinian yoga athlete, Nabila Sol Barraza, stood out with her precise and elegant performance. Nabila has been a successful participant, winning a total of five medals, including two gold and two silver, attributing yoga to transforming her life significantly.
Hailing from Argentina, Nabila’s journey into Yogasana began through a college friend, leading her to develop a deep passion for it. Her exploration of yoga took her to Mumbai, where she immersed herself in Indian culture, traditions, and even Bollywood, showcasing her love for cricket and admiration for Virat Kohli, the former Indian cricket captain.
Fascinated by the philosophy and transformative power of yoga, Nabila expanded her studies in Rishikesh and Nashik, shaping her path as a 30-year-old contemporary dance trainer. Her experiences traveling across India exposed her to its diverse languages, cuisines, and customs, leaving a lasting impact on her.
Nabila’s dedication to yoga transcended borders as she relocated to Colombia, where she now conducts yoga classes both online and offline, emphasizing its holistic benefits for the body, mind, and soul. Her commitment was evident as she overcame a challenging 48-hour journey to compete in the championships, ultimately clinching gold medals in individual categories.
As Argentina’s sole representative at the championships, Nabila aims to inspire others in her homeland and beyond to embrace yoga. She views the championships as a platform to promote yoga globally, expressing confidence that more participants from Argentina and Colombia will join in the future.
